After having my quilt hand quilted by an Amish who uses a lantern, I amazed at how creative people used to be in order to create such wonderful masterpieces. Can you just imagine what they would think of rotary cutters, and all the rulers? It sounds like you have the pioneer can-do spirit and ability to come up with the solution.

This is very creative! You can also use real linoleum tiles from your local Home Depot or Lowe's. It's cheap, easy to cut, and works great.

I had an extension table cut for my machine to fix in the desk and 3 templates cut from the local glass company and all 4 pieces together were $30.

Great idea. Would be nice little side job for a handyman.
