OK so as promised here are the pictures of the cabinets my dad made me. Since I am a quilter, he was very careful to ask how I used my machines and space (which is different from my mom's who does a lot of fashion sewing). I got him to bring me the rendered drawings last night - I will try to scan them and post for anyone who wants to try to build them. He did these on an 'as you go' basis so there are no directions but there are dimensions.

Wow -- love her thread storage! Looks like your dad just made use of the empty space behind the wall board!! Is there glass in front to keep the spools from collecting dust? (Or do I just not use mine enough???) ;)

Yes there is glass and for exactly that reason - to keep the dust away. What is really clever is that my mom got this etching glass paste from Michael's, used the sticky shelf liner paper and cut out patterns, filled in the patterns with the paste, rinsed with water, and voila! Etched glass!
