I do understand about the process of getting educated with all there is to know about embroidery machines. I like your idea of inking in the ' . I have the Baby Lock Spirit machine. Every project I make is an adventure with so many choices on stabilizers and design placement. I have yet to purchase software to speed things along. Good luck in your embroidery Journey!
