Default My feathers

I'm a very good micro-quilter. Small scale is where I excel. This weekend I tried to work on some feathers on bed-quilt scale. It is so hard to quilt large things! The thread I used was too thick for feathers, and I knew that when I started, but I wanted a practice piece so I used cheaper thread. Still, despite the build up, my travel stitching is much more accurate than a year ago when I last tried feathers.

I also did a few to fill in triangular spaces. I like the ones that go across the triangle more than the ones that go vertical.

Because I'm sure someone will ask, this is the quilt. I did not do any of the piecing. Our guild collects quilt tops and then asks other members to quilt them. I pick up 2-3 a month to do the quilting. Mostly I just stipple, but some ask for more of a design. I thought who-ever pieced this one did a fabulous job.

They look just fine. Here is a great site with worksheets on feathers and ideas for fitting feathers into different size patchwork:

They look great to me. I have not mastered that either. My problem is I am not very good at following the lines. You did fantastic, I think. Oh, and the quilt is beautiful!
