My first applique and free motion quilt
#1
I bought this kit a couple of years ago and finally got it done. It was quite a learning experience. I can now say I have appliqued and did free motion. It leaves a lot to be desired but at least I learned a lot. My pics are dark, sorry about that.

Eddie, I didn't tell you about cutting all the applique pieces out with double sided fusable that wouldn't stick and when it did stick it gummed up the needle so bad it wouldn't even make a stitch so I had to scrap the whole thing and start over. The second time around I used pellon wash n gone, sewed it to the front side and turned it, then sewed it on my block. Worked much better and looked better, too. I guess I got the wrong kind of fusable. I was wondering if anyone on here uses the pellon wash n gone or the sulky solvy? What do you think of them?

Johnette-
Your quilt came out great!!!! It is very hard to believe that this was your first attempt at applique or free motion quilting.
I use heat and bond LITE (do not use any heat and bond except lite!!!) It is not stiff when you use it for fusing and it does not gum up your needle when you sew through it. Try it and see if you have more success with it. PS--you can get it at Walmart if you still have a sewing section.

You did a truly beautiful job on it, Johnette!!!! I can't believe it's your first time with applique & FMQ!!! :D
I've only used Wonder Under, and haven't had any problems - the few times I've appliqued.
