This is what I am going to make him for Christmas providing if we have the money so I can buy the batting, backing and binding yet. His 50th birthday is Nov. 9. I was hoping to have it for him then. I just got the border today. Now with him being laid off he may get an ufo and an IOU as a gift.

I am going to use the pillow squares as corner stones. What do you think? I don't know how well you can see the border fabric.

I think he will love it! Your colors match so well with the picture blocks! Best wishes with your husband out of work - I know how hard that is. My DH was laid off in Feb of 2009 and finally found a job in Apr 2010. I hope things move much faster for your family! Sending good thoughts your way!

Thank you for your thoughts. My husband had just went back to work in July of 2010 after being laid off in May of 2009. And now after 3 months again. He has already exhausted the unemployment right before he went back to work. Yes we are hoping and praying that moves much faster this time for us. It is hard out there for EVERYONE.

Beautiful panels, will make a beautiful quilt. Sorry about the layoff, it's scary these days when it comes to employment.
