this is my great-grandson when he was 9 yrs old and his first quilt making effort

preparing to sew his quilt pieces by pinning triangles togethers.

Him sewing the pieces together

After sewing the pieces, it is important to press the seams in the direction you want them, so he is doing that

His finished quilt block...which by the way is named Shoo-fly. Isn't that a neat job he did? Notice how all the seams meet exactly, and he has good sharp points on his triangles?....Oh!..............I think I'm bragging! ;-))

He's so cute, sewing away!!! And I can't believe how his block came out absolutely perfect!! Good for him!!!!  :D

My two grandkids who live near me have just started sewing. One is almost 9, the other 6. I've not let them use the iron (or rotary cutter), but now will rethink that, after seeing how well your grandson is doing with it!!
:D

He started this two summers ago. He worked on this block again this year when he visited. I gave him my oldest sewing machine to take home with him. I think he has his quilt almost finished now.

Better than I can do I tell ya. That is awesome. I too would love to see the completed quilt. Just think if he is this good now how totally awesome he will be years from now. Great masterpieces I have no doubt.
