I bought this 227M singer yesterday, don't have a manual and it looks to require a lot of work. Maybe someone knows where to replace the bar that is unattached.

The bar is used to drop the feed dogs. If the feed dogs are in the UP position you are OK, if they are in the down position you will have to re-attach the bar to raise them unless you can maneuver the bar to raise them without it being attached.

The M stands for Monza, Italy. Cool machine.

Thank you for the answers. The serial # is MB 589791 but I can't find it on the Singer site. Since Billy hasn't been on for a while, I don't want to try to contact him until he's feeling better.

Nice machine. Look for a manual for it on the Singer site...it seems they have many of the manuals.
