I did not have a pattern for this WIP. It is the "foldy stuff" courthouse steps block done on a muslin foundation, plus Ricky Tims one seam flying geese, with some sashing strips used because it was soooo bulky ( 6 layers in a 1/4 inch seam).
Now, my question is, should I add another solid black outer border? If so, how large? The solid black sashing strips are 1 inch finished. I plan to bind with the bias stripe black and white that is used as the first step out from the red center on the dark sides of the steps. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Do you need it bigger? I would put a black border on in the 2 inch size of the inner log cabin blocks or all the way up to the size of the large last border size. It's a great looking quilt and the striped black and white bias binding will make a nice finish.

I would make a border either slightly smaller or larger than the outside borders on their now. If you border in black I question using the striped fabric for the binding as it may make it too busy and distracting on the edge. This is just my opinion. You have done such a marvelous job with this quilt I know that whatever you decide will be stunning on this lovely quilt.
