Thanks y'all. I will be sure to share pictures as I work through more stars. I finished the last logs for the Courthouse Steps. They just need to be starched, pressed and trimmed - but I'm going to hold off trimming until I know the Star blocks are consistently the correct size.

When I measured my first star, it was about a quarter inch wider than it is supposed to be. So I restitched the rows together (just added another seam next to the first one - did not bother to pull out the old one) and that solved the problem. Had I tried to deal with it by trimming, I would have lost the points.

Peaceandjoy - Bonnie refers to that smidge cut as 'dust' and it really does created a little pile of dust, but made a huge difference putting the points together. I have the points sewn for three more stars. I need to go back to the cutting board to get some more units put together.

There are 16 reds and 14 yellows in the body and border of the quilt and I've got two fabrics sitting nearby to audition for the narrow border - as I really like the stripes that Bonnie used to set those. There is one yellow in the body of the quilt - the swirly red on yellow on the upper right star point - but I don't think I have enough in my stash to use that one - so 32 fabrics overall. This is the first quilt that I've used this many fabrics from so many different lines at once.

    Cheers, K

This is a class I need to take! I'm horrible at triangles.

Your block looks great. Congratulation. We all have to find what works best for us individually.

Those templates that she uses/recommends are truly the best and easiest to use.....and the most accurate...but you have to cut/sew carefully too....as with any pattern piece.....

Agree completely! One neat tip she gave was to use Nexcare clear first aid tape on the backs of the rulers so that they don't slip while cutting - and you can still see through the tape.
