Beautiful color choices! Nice points. I love Bonnie's blog and dream about attending a workshop. You have learned well. Looking forward to the whole quilt! Thank you for sharing.

The Tri-Recs Tool, Easy Angle (comes in three sizes) and Companion Angle rulers are by Wrights - I got two of them on Amazon and one at my LQS. The rulers allow you to make the unit from strips the width of the block you want - so for a HST that finishes at 3 inches - 3.5 inches with seam allowances, you can cut from 3.5 inch strips - not 3 7/8 inch strips using the Easy Angle. For QST's a 3 inch finished/3.5 inch with seam allowances block, you create those from 2 inch strips using the Companion Angle.

I really resisted buying these for a long time because I have SO many rulers already - and because I was doing my triangles using the draw your seam lines onto the fabric system. But I am really sold on them.

I finished cutting the half square triangles last night, so I have two huge stacks waiting to be cut and then got started on the smaller triangles for the pinwheels (25% done). I'll likely spend some time stitching those units tonight before returning to cutting the star points.

Bonnie did say that she recommends treating her patterns like a novel and read ALL of the instructions before you start cutting. I ended up with several strips cut 3/8 inch too wide - so I wasted over 2 inches of fabric by not paying attention and reading through before I started cutting background fabric.

I do use those 3/8 inch strips as ties around my wider bundles strips of fabric to keep things organized.

I dropped my son off this morning with his Boy Scout troop for a trip to the Summit - so I'll have an uninterrupted time to play.

Cheers, K

Lovely colors and wonderfully put together. Wish I had your handle on the tools! Thank you for the preview of what will be an awesome quilt top.
