Default first attempt at doing chenille

I've seen this before and decided it was time to try. I want to say that I give all of you a standing applaud that quilt on your domestic machines....wow...that is hard!!!!!!
I have 5 layers of fabric. My backing that is home dec, three layers of cotton, and one layer of flannel. I sewed a while bunch of lines and my daughter and I got some bonding time while we sat and cut all the strips out. I'm so glad I had a helper or I'd still be cutting right now.
I gave it a wash and a dry so it will still fray up some more. I like the look of it, it almost looks like denim.
I just surged the edge because I was impatient and just had to see how it was going to turn out, I still need to do a binding yet. Thanks for looking

You did a great job. I too have been wanting to try this ever since I saw it done on a jacket on Sewing with Nancy a few years ago. What size is it? I may try it yet. Thanks for sharing.

I just cut a yard off of each fabric then squared it up after I sewed it. I have a daughter that is snuggling it on the couch or I would go measure it for you.

i love the colors of your chenille. i bought the chenille kit and tried it on a very small wall hanging. have to say that i'm not anxious to do it again. that being said, if i do it again, my daughter gifted me with electric scissors [black & decker] to make the job easier.

Oh, I never thought of those. I think I have a pair some where. Now, if I can find them?!?!?! They do have a cutting tool that you just slide through each groove that cuts it easily. I wanted to try it and see how I even liked it before I bought something else I wouldn't use...lol...I'm starting to learn!!!
