Bright and simple string piecing
2 Attachment(s)
I have a LOT of scraps of bright fabrics, mostly Kaffe Fassett bold and beautiful prints. I have been saving scraps and was given another big bag of scraps so it was time to do something with them all.
Using Bonnie Hunter's string piecing method on foundation, I made these blocks in one day. It's addictive, such fun and fast sewing. She has a tutorial on her website http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/...ng-primer.html that's very helpful. |
I love making these blocks. When I don't want to "think" I can make strip blocks almost "in my sleep". Yours are very pretty.

Thanks for sharing, this is a wonderful way to get rid of your scraps. I have to make one of those too.

OH WOW - just changed my mind on these string quilts after seeing this! Thanks so much for taking the time to show this to us.

Was removing the paper easy? I read the tutorial and will purchase the paper she recommends if it isn't difficult to remove as you finish the block? I love your colors.
I am making a spider web quilt, but it calls for muslin as the foundation. |
The blocks are beautiful. It is a great pattern to use for a group. You don't have to worry about seam allowance size
|
That will mke a beautiful quilt.

I like your blocks and I, too, love that pattern. That is my goal for the new year, to use up my scrap strips and make one of those string quilts, and to make some room in my tiny sewing area. They are so colorful!
