I was rooting through my fabric and ran across this piece. I tried to give it to a friend, she would have no part of it. Can't say that I blame her. It is reeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaallly ugly! I bought it years ago with the intentions of quilting around the hands, using a piece of polar fleece on the reverse side. Never happened.

I have plans, and I'll keep you posted as to the progress. I have a few things in front of it, so it won't be right away. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/IMG_4234.jpg M |
I wouldn't say the fabric is buttugly....it's interesting!
Not really something I would buy. Ok, I probably would. I buy weird stuff at times. Keep us updated on what you "invent" |
"interesting" is a polite way of saying "ugly." Very interesting would translate to "buttugly." It akin to saying, "he has a nice personality." :D

M I like the color, it's pretty. But, like they say...beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I for one, don't think it's buttugly or ugly. |
I think I'll be likin' it better when there isn't so much of it. The colors didn't limit me as much as I thought. And my choices of the stuff I got to go with it pleased me. It'll be cool. Your comparison to hands on a pregnant woman's belly is similar to what I was envisioning, I was thinking hands on the back of a sleeping baby.

It's not too bad but it certainly looks better in smaller doses and with the other fabrics you have choosen to go with. Show us what you come up with.

I think the combination of fabrics you've chosen to go along with it are perfect! Whatever you do with this, it's going to be smashing. Those are ALL really great fabrics. I like unusual fabrics. I think they lend a lot of interest to any quilt. Even the odd fabrics can be quite beautiful when used right and with the right fabrics to compliment. I can't wait to see what you do with this.

When I was weaving, I learned the ugliest fabrics and yarns brightened up a creation amazingly well. I hope it holds true here!!!

Oh my gosh, my brain is warped, i thought it was hands on a butt! lol

i don't think it's ugly at all. you have also coordinated the others with it beautifully.
it would be perfect in any baby quilt (parents' loving hands). it would also add a lovely touch to any quilt destined for someone who is grieving, ill or otherwise in need of comfort (gentle, hugging, comforting hands). i hope you use it throughout a quilt, but especially in a border at least 3" wide. i'll bet your instincts led you to that fabric through a warm, squishy heart. :P :P |
