Can't decide, would love your input!

I am trying to design a king size quilt for my son and future DIL for their wedding in March. It needs to be blue and green basically, and since it's so huge, I do not wish to do any stitch in the ditch or add borders as I don't want to turn the quilt to quilt them... so I am designing the quilt around that criteria, which limits my choices.
Which of these 2 quilts do you prefer, keeping in mind that the attached representation of the quilting would be the same for either one, only the quilting on the solid tan blocks would really pop if I chose that layout instead of the first one... although I'm leaning towards the first one. Thank you in advance! |
Boy this is a hard choice. I am going with 3 because it caught my attention the most
Love them both! The quilting you have chosen looks wonderful too. If it was me I would choose the 2nd one so some of that lovely quilting would really show up. I do very much like the overall look of the first one too though. So perhaps your choice may depend on how confident you are with the quilting. do you want it to mostly blend in, or do you want it to pop?

I love the first one. Great quilting pattern too!
I like them both, but I lean a little toward the 2nd as it's not quite as busy ... and I like the idea that the pretty quilting motif's will show up.

I vote # 1...
Voting for #2. More restful to the eyes, less piecing to do, and your quilting will be showcased. Lovely pattern!
I vote for 2 - it will really bring out the quilting - however if you really want to showcase the quilt and not the quilting - then # 1 would be perfect - also keep in mind that regardless of which one you choose - you can also see the quilting on the back if its a solid color- either way its going to be a wonderful quilt.

I like them both but prefer #2. Your quilting will be showcased better.

I really like the first one, your quilting choices are beautiful

I do agree! :) |
I like both but the second is my favourite.
If it were me, I would personally also consider the difference of making 30 squares vs 50 squares. They look very complicated and time consuming. Is time a factor for you?
Not quite sure how old your son and soon to be DIL....but I have found when I make a quilt in my opinion is pretty...some of my daughters will pipe in "mom it's beautiful but too busy"....on that note I would have to say the second one....they are all very beautiful

#2 for me. The quilting will show much more in #2. Both very pretty
No. 1 is my choice.
I vote for #1, I don't think it's too busy, but it sure would be a lot of extra work!
I prefer #2, it has a better balance of busy and neutral space, but they both look nice and it will depend on the preferences of you son and DIL.
Have you considered making the sashing 1/2 green and 1/2 blue to balance with the setting triangles that are 1/2 green and 1/2 blue? |
2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2.....2!
the first one is perfect, colors blend well
I love both of them.
i like the first one
I vote for #2 - more restfull and you can really see the pattern of the pieced block (which is lovely )- and that quilting design will really pop the whole quilt.
I like the first one, with the quilting in the 3rd picture. Beautiful!
I like #1 better, but I would make the setting triangles all the same color.
Love the last one.
I lean toward the 2nd one but would not choose tan for the solid squares. I would do the blue and put the tan along the outside as a borders.
The first one is my choice, it really is beautiful.
I totally agree with first layout/design.
I like #2 the best. Sandy 64
Have you considered combination of both ??
Think either will be awesome. |
I really love the first one. Maybe you can do your back in a color that will show the quilting!
I'm definitely for the second because for me the quilting makes the quilt the total package and you could do so much with that block from their monogram to a favorite flower used in their wedding.
I love the first one, but both are nice!
I really like #1.
I'd pick number 2. Both are great, but the first one is kind of busy to me.
