DH makes these from 5/8" squares, individually cut and machine sewn. He has made over 30 wall hanging size, we have sold two. They are in a museum in Germany. I will add more in later posts.
These will be in chronological order so I can keep track of which ones I have posted. They are all about 3 feet square. micro Trips around the World Micro LC, made of squares not strips radiant star |
Good Grief!! That man is a marvel!! Those are impossibly beautiful! No wonder they are in a museum.

I...uhhh...WOW!
I am really at a loss for words. Wow. |
OMG!!!!!!!!!! Your husband has a whole lot more patience than me. LOL
uhhhh ummmmmm WOW only 5/8 inch square before or after quilting.
wow, awesome quilts, glad they are in a museum
Job well done! |
WOW....don't know if my fingers can even hold something that small! Gorgeous!!
WOW!!!!
oh, they are stunning! what patience he must have and how wonderful that you both share in this great hobby.
My eyes literally twitched, I can't imagine the patience involved. Great job!!
5/8" before sewing, finish off to about 1/4". Amazing since he has big hands and is always asking me to help him on other things, saying "I need someone with little fingers.."
Sewed on machine, quilted by hand. |
They are spectacular!
Is 5/8" the cut size or finished size? What is the seam allowance width? Makes one feel guilty for throwing small scraps away. Missed the 5/8 cut size in a previous post. |
no, no, no. from 5/8 inch pieces? by hand or machine? I'm assuming by hand. wonderful quilts!!!!!
Wow! That is amazing.
How on earth does he use a machine to peice them together? my machine will eat them up.
trying to upload more pics but I keep getting an Apache TOmcat error report - I have no idea why.
Absolutely incredible !
Very impressive! He must have a ton of patience!
Stunning. Thanks for sharing
How COOL!!!
And I thought I was ambitious for wanting to make a postage stamp quilt out of 2x2's!
Just AMAZING! Would you mind telling me where in Germany/in which Museum this wonderful quilt is exhibited?
Amazing!!! I love his minis. I can't imagine working with those tiny pieces!
Those are amazing! What are the finished sizes of the ones you posted? I'm trying to gauge it by the background grass, but having a hard time. I just can't imagine working with those small pieces! That is absolutely incredible!
Awesome! I don't have any other words....
i've had "tomcat" problems today too! you may have to start a new thread, may help, may not
oh yeah, forgot to say WOW!!!!!!! |
wow
Incredible - I keep looking at those beautiful quilts and still can't believe your husband's unique ability. Give him a big applause.
Whooooaaaaa Nelly!!! Has your DH gone blind yet?? I do believe after sewing 3 or 4 of those 5/8 in blocks together I'd have not only given up but called my Ophthalmologist to fix my now irreparably crossed eyes! Kudo's of the highest order to your talented DH. These are truly magnificent!!
I have an 84 year old friend that makes Barbie doll quilts with 1 inch (unfinished) blocks that she actually paper pieces! Some people are just amazing!! Kip |
I tried to send an empty message for "speechless"! I zoomed the images to 200%. Are the sashings in the TATW pieced too, or are they one piece strips? I understand that the "logs" in the LC are also made of pieced squares, right?
I have worked on this small of a scale, but never on such large finished pieces. Simply fantastic. |
So, seam allowance is still 1/4"?
I totally agree, these are awesome!!!! This man has the patience beyond belief. They do truly belong in a museum.
