Fanciful flowers piecing complete

1 Attachment(s)
Just finished piecing this top. It is the first one I have done all by myself with no help from my DSIL. It was a kit from Annie's. I am real pleased with it. Now I want to try and quilt myself. Any suggestions on what to do??:D

I love your quilt and the only way I could quilt it would be in the ditch and around the petals.

hybearn8er 03-25-2013 05:30 PM

Congratulations! You've done a wonderful job!

xsquilter 03-25-2013 05:31 PM

Oh my, that is so pretty! I agree with Cyn about the quilting part. If you've not done much of the quilting part, you might want to start with something straight forward, simple & enjoyable!

It is beautiful.....keep it simply as far as quilting....

HillCountryGal 03-25-2013 06:02 PM

Margaret... the 1st thing I'd do is sit back and admire! You did a beautiful job!!
I agree on keeping the quilting simple. The fabric and design speaks for it's self.

Sarah in Brooklyn 03-25-2013 06:15 PM

That's beautiful. Are the spirals in the fabric or did you make them?

quiltstringz 03-25-2013 06:16 PM

It is wonderful!

Donna 66 03-25-2013 06:17 PM

Thank you..I made them

You could follow the shape of the petals quilting just inside the edge then again inside that stitching line, and maybe one more time. time. Then echo quilt following outside of the petals for a few rows in the flower blocks. I did something similar on one of my first projects and following a shape is easier than stitching in the ditch. Your quilt is beautiful! Bet your SIL is proud of you!

bunniequilter 03-25-2013 06:44 PM

Wow love it! Your colour scheme is wonderful.

Sorry I can't be any help with quilting - I'm still learning that myself.
Here's a picture I found Pinterest that shows some quilting.

michelleoc 03-25-2013 08:00 PM

Your quilt is gorgeous! You should be very proud of yourself. I agree with others, stitch in the ditch and echo the flowers and stuff.

mighty 03-25-2013 08:25 PM

Very pretty! I think an all over meander would be nice. Gina

sinnemahoning 03-26-2013 07:41 AM

What a beautiful quilt; also your quilting and work.

everbtrue 03-26-2013 09:20 AM

Awesome!!!

Nammie to 7 03-26-2013 03:18 PM

You might try echo quilting the petals ( just a couple lines in each) and stippling the background of those blocks. It would be nice to have a design quilted into each bigger piece. It isn't too hard - you concentrate on one block at a time and it will go well!

quilts4charity 03-26-2013 03:19 PM

It's beautiful!!!!

yweinst 03-26-2013 03:20 PM

Absolutely beautiful quilt. Love the colors and fabric you chose. Gorgeous.

#1piecemaker 03-27-2013 04:33 AM

I love your quilt!! You did a super job. It's gorgeous!! Depends on if you are hand quilting or machine quilting as to how I would proceed. Which one are you doing?

coopah 03-27-2013 04:36 AM

Excellent!! I agree with keeping it simple. That way the wonderful piecing will show well. Just gorgeous colors and workmanship.

quiltmom04 03-27-2013 05:00 AM

I would suggest printing a copy of this picture ( you can use a low resolution to save ink) on a standard size of paper and then draw on it to give yourself some ideas of what the quilting would look like, and help you decide . I'm sure whatever you decide will be lovely , as your quit is just beautiful!!

Quilter 65 03-27-2013 05:02 AM
