First efforts by a beginner

After reading and educating myself via this board and craftsy.com I have been very nervous about tackling a big quilt. Having a little break from work I finally decided to just use some random fabrics and start making some easy blocks from block of the month 2012. I am very glad I have finally begun on my quilting journey, just a pieced top with borders still to add and the quilting and binding to go, but have enjoyed it so much. I just know now I have begun I will learn and improve as I go. Thank you for the hints, tips, and inspiration I have found here on this board. Will try to upload photo.

:)

Welcome to the world of quilting. Your quilt is lovely and your piecing is great. I've taken some classes, but really most of what I have learned comes from the internet. There is so much to learn out there. Have fun on your quilting journey.

Your thread title is definitely wrong. First item by beginner. Last project by experienced quilter. Very well done beautiful work

Good job, great color combo and squares.

appliquequiltdesigns 04-24-2013 11:37 AM

Good first blocks. The way you are learning reminds me of my quilting journey. I started by buying a book on learning to quilt. I then learned so much from watching a show on HGTV called "Simply Quilts".

You are off to a great start! Are you hooked yet? My first couple of quilts were simple 9 patch blocks.

Here's my new mantra:
Right sides together, starch is my friend, press DO NOT RUB with the iron, press to the dark!
Repeated over and over as I sewed. Courtesy of all of the posts I have been reading here, so thank you all!
