Have a look at this D9P.....

...that turns out into such a very interesting pattern. A friend in my quilting group just finished it and allowed me to show it to you as I was so fascinated the way it turned out. Maybe some of you might have seen a D9P like that before but it was new to me, I always just knew about the "usual" ones.

QUILTNMO 10-26-2012 02:14 AM

very pretty like the colors too!!!!

I love playing with D9P. With the alternate blocks, this would go together fast and still look very "quilty"

BeckySt 10-26-2012 04:11 AM

Very nice, I would have never thought to use just two colors, I guess I mite have to try some different color way out, thanks for showing us.

Moonglow 10-26-2012 04:19 AM

Wow! Nicely done. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, I think just using 2 colours is what makes the difference in this quilt, I always used at least 3 colours in a D9P.

Had to add a subscription for this one!! Really neat!

Diane007 10-26-2012 06:19 AM

hi

love your fabrics... nice

willferg 10-26-2012 07:13 AM

I like that a lot. Sometimes DSP9s get too busy for me, but using the two colors and the alternating fabric is just right!

watson's mom 10-26-2012 07:33 AM

I have made 2 D9P and used a total of nine fabrics. I really like this one with just the two. I am going to try that on a quilt I am hoping to make for a friend of mine. Thank you so much for sharing your friend's quilt.

That is an interesting result. I like how she quilted it also. Not overdone.

Thanks for sharing....I never saw it make this pattern!

cattailsquilts 10-26-2012 01:02 PM

You know, this may have just solved a dilemma I'm having with a quilt that really wants to be a D9P, but I can't figure out why! Thank you (and your friend) for sharing!

Jingle 10-26-2012 01:54 PM

#1piecemaker 10-27-2012 05:33 AM

Very pretty!! Yes, the DP9 has been around for a while but it never ceases to amaze me. I love the fabric she used. Nice!!!

ragqueen03 10-27-2012 05:39 AM

that is one beautiful quilt. I love the colors. the charity quilt group in the guild i used to belong to used the d9p for most of their quilts. Even though i no longer attend that guild the lady in charge has reassured me that I can continue to make tops for them and to continue going when i am able to the workshops. To be honest I got a little burnt out on the d9p after making about 10 tops for it. They all seemed to look the same to me after a while. but I may just have to go in and try this design. Thanks for posting it.

Rosewood9 10-27-2012 06:41 AM

Very nice, I like everything about it!

Seaside gal 10-27-2012 08:05 AM

Very cute. I love quirky.

MimiBug123 10-27-2012 09:18 AM

This is just precious. I love the fabrics. It is always so interesting to see how patterns look so different depedning on color choices and arrangement. Thanks for sharing.

Sewbeeit2 10-27-2012 12:28 PM

This is great. I have wanted to do a d9p and now for sure with this great
layout. Thanks

GeeGee 10-27-2012 09:40 PM

I have done the d9p with only 2 colors. Her quilt is lovely and I found it interesting that all the blocks were turned the same direction except the last two in the bottom row. I also think it would be a different design to alternate the direction of the blocks on alternating rows. Thanks for sharing!

MamaInRed 10-27-2012 09:57 PM

What a darling quilt, the pattern you put the blocks in is perfect with the colors.

lpsewing 10-27-2012 11:00 PM

lovely,very soft looking

anniesews 10-28-2012 03:26 AM

Very interresting. I must study this more to figure out how she did it.

Yes, she made a mistake on the last row but noticed it too late and it would have been too much to unpick, so she left it. But you're right, I was also thinking about alternating or even alternating each block in the row, could look quite interesting too.

quilter68 10-28-2012 04:09 AM

A very sweet quilt. Now I can really see the D9P.

ghquilter53 10-28-2012 04:35 AM

Adorable mouse fabric. Someday I am going to do a D9P.
