My mom purchased this quilt and well lets just say I saw it and made a comment about how it needs to stay and my house and well it is now at my house on my bed!! But it is such an unusual pattern. It is machined pieced but the middles is squised together to make it 3d like. the offwhite material is muslin not soft very ruff. Ohh and I have a new purse so very cute I am not a purse person but had to throw the picture into here!!

Do you recognize me???

The block looks like a Lemoyne Star to me... probably used thicker batting and sewed the middle of the stars to make it puffy.

I believe this is also appliqued on. the points have some extra material sewn onto them then gatthered to make the puff or 3d look. I have never seen it will look up the lemoyne star. Thank you!!

That looks like some kind of fabric folding type block. I can see what you mean by the fabric in the middle.

I can see why you liked it!

The center also looks like it has folded pieces.

I'm wondering if this is just poor piecing?
I'm noticing all the lopped off points on the 'star'; and look at the straight edges of the diamond shapes pieced next to the curved elliptical shapes....it would have to be 'gathered' in order to fit together. And that would make a bunched center which appears to be covered by a circle to hide the effect.

Interesting. And not unpleasant at all when finished, washed and loved!
