Most times I have no idea what design to put on the quilt under it is on the frame. I think when I break it down into a smaller area it is easier to see the whole picture. (Clear as mud, right).

here are some tools I use for marking

I mark registration lines to keep me consistant

a mirror on the back of my table lets me see my stitches on the back

You do beautiful work. I'm wondering what you use to mark with - is that the chalk pounce on the right? The purple holder - is that holding chalk? If you have light fabric, what do you mark with? Marking is one thing I don't have a good handle on.....

Here is one block finished. Each will be done individually, since I don't know the pattern until I get there.

Mine will be coming in about 3 weeks, and I will be looking forward to using a lot of y'all's experience. I really like the idea about a mirror. I remember a post on here a few days ago about someone who had quilted quite a lot without realizing the bobbin thread was not working right. This could help prevent that problem.

Good for you, I don't have enough patience for marking and such. I just do FMQ on my Juki.
