Have you ever tried to take a pic of your bathroom? Well this is all I could get of my shower curtain. 9 patch squares are nine inch finished, set on point. Used flannel as a batting and meander machine quilted in large setting squares and triangles as well as yellow 9 patch squares. Rest of motif in bath is my Dutch Delft accessories.

n2scraplvr 12-01-2009 08:19 PM

How beautiful is that!!! Are those yellow blocks alternated w/the blue blocks? The camera shows them as being tan blocks. Anyway, I bet that looks great in there w/ all the Delft accessories! How striking! 9P is my fave for sure!! You did great!!

oksewglad 12-01-2009 08:34 PM

Yes--The "tan" blocks are a soft bright buttery yellow. Glad you like it.

Very nice. I love your curtain.

rootyr 12-02-2009 11:33 AM

Beautiful!

oksewglad 12-03-2009 09:41 AM

Thanks all. Think I used 30 9 patch blocks--dimensions somewhere around 72 x 80 inches. When I get tired of it I can clip off the hanging ties and use is as a regular summer quilt!

littlehud 12-03-2009 07:15 PM

Oh so very pretty. I love blue and yellow. Great shower curtain.

sandpat 12-09-2009 06:16 AM

Thats a great looking curtain!

DoxieFive 12-19-2010 02:20 AM

What a lovely shower curtain! Thanks for your inspiration. I have been planning a Christmas shower curtain for a while. Now, maybe I will get it done.

rootyr 12-19-2010 03:00 AM

Nice!

karenkrafts 12-19-2010 09:54 AM

Nice idea!

annieshane 12-19-2010 09:58 AM

My two favorite color combinations are blue and yellow. Always sunny and bright! Good job with the curtain.

i love the dutch delft fabric...being a good dutch girl who collects it...

do you remember who makes it... any info would be greatly apprciated...

i can see all my aunts (all dutch girls too) needing new table runners...

thanks for any info you have!

Janetd 12-19-2010 02:13 PM

That's really pretty!

salmonsweet 12-19-2010 03:59 PM

Wow.

Is this regular cotton fabric then, not the plasticky shower curtain stuff? I've never seen a quilted shower curtain and would love one... Doesn't it get mouldy with the moisture in the bath?

oksewglad 12-19-2010 05:59 PM

Hey thanks for all the complements! To answer some questions:
1. bjnicholson--Of course it's okay to bookmark
2. dljennings--I bought this some time ago, I think at Joann's and it's actually more like Asian porcelain than Delft--FYI Delft is a old (and I mean old) replication of Oriental dishware! No info on the selvage though. I'll PM you.
3. salmonsweet--Yes 100% cotton. I do use a vinyl liner on the inside of the tub to keep the curtain dry. LOL--I just checked and no sign of mold or much dirt. It's been hanging since we moved into our new home Easter of 2007 and has never been washed.
I have no window in my bathroom and this really brightens up the room--Yup just like blue and yellow brighten up a room.

fayza 12-19-2010 05:59 PM

That's very pretty :)

kimnkell 12-19-2010 06:01 PM

Very pretty. I want to make my own shower curtain as well. This is very nice and love the colors.

Hi my goodness that is one thing I would never have thought could be quilted!! That is soooo clever. It is gorgeous and so inspiring.. thanks for posting.
ciao ciao

Gramof6 12-20-2010 12:07 AM

This is just gorgeous. Bet it looks wonderful in person. Thanks you for sharing.

oksewglad 12-20-2010 09:06 AM

I choose the 9 patch because it's easy--I couldn't see spending a lot of time on a shower curtain! And it's dramatic when set on point. My advice is choose something simple and let the fabric speak. Thanks again for the kind words.

I made small runners for the top of the commode, just strips of different materials, not fancy, but ads some color..

Donna in Mo 12-20-2010 04:17 PM

Did you actually quilt it, with batting? Or is it just the quilt top?

Donna in Mo--I used a very lightweight flannel in the middle-It helps give stability to the curtain and FMQ on my sewing machine.

That is so cool. I will have to try it.

I love this idea...may i borrow it?

Of course! On the first page are directions--sort of. It's a 9 inch 9P so strips were 3.5" cuts for quick piecing. There are 30 9P blocks set on point alternated with 9" squares. First border is 1.75" cut/ second border 2.75" cut. Lightwt flannel (really cheap Walmart type) in the middle with a standard cotton backing.

Good luck and share with us when you get it done!
