Gerbie, here's some help on what LQS (local quilt shop) and other acronyms mean. I think you just click on the attachments to open them. Welcome to the Board!

Gerbie, LQS is "local quilt shop". Synthrapol is a liquid and you add it to the wash with the quilt. It is supposed to suspend/remove excess dye, so perhaps it would help. It is 1 teaspoon for each yard of fabric. I just estimated. It says to wash in hot water, but I did it in warm. It also says to wash the material in it to set the colors first. Well unfortunately I didn't. But my quilt did come out ok.
Someone on this quilt said that what I did was the wrong thing, so you might want to start a new topic and ask for advice from some of the ladies that are more experienced with this. Good luck.
Amazon.com has it. Maybe you could get the shout color grabber sheets at your local WalMart.

I could never be good enough for a "lone star" quilt.I love them but too much for me to handle.

Your quilt is so beautiful, that's heartbreaking! I hope the suggestions here help you get the bleed out!

At one of our Quilt Guild meetings, we had a lecture from a quilting Home Economist, she told us about a product that Shout had out that would protect your colors. The name of is Shout Color Catcher. I have tried it and it WORKS. Hope this helps ya'll as much as it does me.

Lovely quilt, making a Lakota Star quilt is my goal one day. I am sure your grandson will treasure it.

Any fabric that I'm afraid will bleed I wash in Retayne.

The quilt is absolutlu beautiful and you did such a great job! I know you want it perfect, we all do. But sometines it's the imperfections that give a quilt the "character" it needs.

Believe it or not a quilt I bought in PA dutch country did the same thing and the Amish woman took it back and said..Not a problem..she hand washed it a couple of times in Tide with Bleach!! I was stunned. It came out ..hasn't bled since.
