leopard quilt - knife edge binding

2 Attachment(s)
I just finished a quilt for a bride who had requested that it be "leopard". I sew alone, but so many of you helped with this one. (Remember that commercial - maybe for a phone - where a network of people followed this guy everywhere he went? That's us!)

I started by searching "leopard" on here and that led me to this one: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t205974.html As you see, I totally stole the design used here. I've seen this pattern called Fractures and also Bricks, but I've used it several times from this site and it's called "Take Two" there.
http://kickassquiltsupplies.com/Share/taketwo.htm I don't remember when I found that pattern, but I'm sure it came from here! It hadn't crossed my mind to use it until I started searching on here.

I was in Walmart and saw leopard print fleece throws on sale for $5 each. Two of those made the backing of this quilt for a total of $10. It's a bit heavy, but so soft and cuddly! But ... I usually pull over the back edge to create a self-binding and that wouldn't work with the fleece. So when I saw a thread that included "knife edge" binding I knew it would be perfect. (Read down and you'll find the link to this style binding.) Basically you're pulling a small border over to the back of the quilt. That's how mine worked anyway. I put on 1.5" black border and had planned to add another border to that. Instead just stopped there and pulled that first border over to the back.

The leopard fabrics came from fabric.com. The red is from my LQS. Quilt is about 60X72. I think the bride will be thrilled. I also think the next time a bride tries to tell me what she'd like I'll take it under advisement and then make it from whatever I have on hand! (I usually just go from the colors she registered for - if she wants blue towels, the she likes blue, etc.)

Thank you all for all your help! :)

Nice Job! I like the 2 different leopard fabrics for the variation in color!
I'm sure she was thrilled too to receive it.

I love it. AND especially for posting the link of the pattern. Did you sew the 2 back pieces together with a 1" seam or what? The bride will be thrilled. You got a big gold star.
