Well, here you go folks.

I finished my B&W quilt, embroidered everybody's name and location on the back of the quilt, next to each person's block, then I quilted the whole thing.
I just finished it this afternoon, it has just come out of the dryer and is still warm :)

There it is!! My computer is creaking like a crippled hamster.

Sorry, my compter was taking it's sweet time uploading the pics. I should have posted them in order. That's my fault.

Melanie, its wonderful. I love the pop of red and that you made them wonky. Well done!!

mytwopals 09-11-2009 12:03 PM

Looks great, Melanie. Looks like you may have used a poly batting, which will make it warm and comfy in the cold months ahead. :D

Red really does pop! Love the names on the back. The part where you mention still warm makes the whole thing sound so cozy.

Melanie, it looks awesome. Great job!

sandpat 09-11-2009 12:16 PM

Oh Melanie...great job! I'm so impressed! Mine are still sitting in the envelope they came in. I have plans for them...I love your red and the wonky setting!

collettakay 09-11-2009 12:17 PM

I love it! It looks great. My blocks are still in the cupboard waiting for me to work on them. Way to go!

To be honest with you, my blue and white ones are still in the envelope they came in, lol!

I want to do something fun with them, but I haven't had any inspiration yet, so they'll stay where they are until I get a flashy idea :P

Thanks for the compliments, everyone! I love the wonky look too. The next time I do it, I'll arrrange for them to look even more crooked, and haphazard.

You're right, I always use poly batting.
My wallet can't afford the cotton batting, but I have thought of using fleece if I can get it cheap.

Barbm 09-11-2009 12:24 PM

You know Mel- babies love red, black and white!

Looks great!

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 09-11-2009 12:26 PM

My baby will have a choice of quilts for pretty much every day of the week by the time he/she gets here, lol!

2wheelwoman 09-11-2009 12:28 PM

Delightful - and my favorite colors too!

Barbm 09-11-2009 12:32 PM

P.S. I love the baby time line on your postings, it's like all of the board is a part of your family. (Weird, I know)

ooooh- can we do a mare stare and bet on the baby's arrival?

Ninnie 09-11-2009 12:49 PM

Looks great, I like it!!

ai731 09-11-2009 01:07 PM

It's a beautiful quilt Melanie! I really love the way you set the blocks. I might "steal" your idea for the blocks I get in the Blue & Yellow block swap, if you don't mind!

Well, I can't say I'm up for putting a live web-cam, but once I get into my third trimester, I can tell you a more definate due date, and you all can start putting bets on which day, and I'll update with lots of belly pics. As it stands, I'm due on the 28th of April, but that has time to change, lol! I'll also let you all know as soon as I know if it's a little boy or little girl. We're hoping for a girl :D

Nope, I don't mind at all :) In fact, I'm pretty sure I got the idea from someone else's quilt, when I ran a google search a long time ago. I thought it was so cool I HAD to use it on something!

Oh Mel...now you've opened yourself up for it! Mel Stare...here we come!

susiequilt 09-11-2009 04:08 PM

What a great idea. It turned out lovely. I have one on the design board but that's as far as I have gotten.

sewsewquilter 09-11-2009 05:35 PM

Your quilt is great! My B/W blocks are still in the to quilt stack. :-(

wvdek 09-11-2009 05:37 PM

Nice quilt and love the wonky look. Am currently working on one for well i can't say, but it sure takes you out of yur box to make em wonky.

Ok, on the mare stare I am betting on April 30 due date which just happens to be my b-day. :D
and if you must know, 55 years young!
OMGosh how did I get this old this fast?

Joan 09-11-2009 05:40 PM

Very pretty, Melanie!

I LOVE the use of the red fabric, it's just perfect with the black and white. Plus, the stars between the blocks are just the icing on the cake!

gaigai 09-11-2009 07:18 PM

Melanie, I love how you set the blocks using red. The whole thing really pops! Great job!!

chickadee_42us 09-11-2009 07:38 PM

Great job - love the puffy and sashings and the wonky look.

Elsie 09-11-2009 09:30 PM

Janstar 09-11-2009 09:51 PM

Looks great Melanie. Congrats on your baby to come!

Harmony 09-11-2009 10:15 PM

Fantabulous! I like the way you did the red kind of offset--makes your quilt even more interesting!

SulaBug 09-11-2009 11:06 PM

Your B&W blocks, from the block swap,
really made a beautiful quilt!! :D I love
it a lot. I especially like that you have
one of my blocks in it!! Great Job.
:D :D :D :D :D

Quilt4u 09-12-2009 01:40 AM

Very nice.

quiltersew 09-16-2009 12:27 PM

Your quilt is beautiful...I like the way it looks like the squares are off kilter...I hope they look that way and it is not my eyes...when you use fleece do you have to tie or quilt it???? thanks all I enjoy this web site...

quiltwoman 09-16-2009 12:40 PM

Great job Melanie--makes me want to wrap up and sit on the sofa.

Mousie 09-16-2009 03:34 PM

It's so puffy and soft looking, - want to make like a little kid and just jump on it, and then hide under it, from mom, lol!

Barb, I feel the same way...that we are family, and how fun to get to watch one of our mommies-in-progress, along with all these quilts-in-progress, lol! :D

littlehud 09-16-2009 06:53 PM

What a great job. I need to start mine. I guess I'm waiting for winter when I have nothing else to do. OK, that really never happens. Anyway, I love yours.
