Well, here it is, lumps and all!!

It's not perfect, but it's done. I can't afford the quilting so i attempted to stitch in the ditch. Only my blocks didn't quite square up correct, so it's a little iffy in areas.

The back is a soft fuzzy type of fabric... I washed it first... it didn't shrink at all so I felt fairly comfortable putting it on the back.

It's wonderful Nepthys! So bright & cheery - I love reds & yellows together!

:D

I love the bear fabric. I agree that the reds and yellows look great together. For a first effort I think you did a great job. Wonky blocks just add character :) !

You did a great job! i can't afford to send mine out either, that's why i only make baby and lap quilts so I can quilt it myself! Keep up the good work!

This will go to my new nephew, who will be about 6 months this christmas. I had hoped to take it to him personally over thanksgiving but that fell through :( there was no place for me to stay.

So I'll have to mail it down.

sorry you didn't get to go visit but the quilt is fine, didn't see the iffys but that's how we learn, by practice, good job

That is a wonderfully warm looking quilt.
Quilts are not meant to be perfect (in my humble opinion). The loved stitched in every seam is what shows. This has the potential of being a favorite "blankie".
What's next?

Looks great - you really did a nice job on the binding, too.

Great colors! I love your fabric choices. Very impressive for your "first ever quilt!" That babe is going to love it.

I have a plaid top together that I'd like to finish this weekend maybe. Shuffling off to Buffalo on Monday so might not get much done on that day.

your first quilt Nepthys, way to go  There is nothing like the satisfaction you get from completing your first project. Love your cheerie yellows and reds

:) :) Great first try. I have done 3-4 small projects. Still have problems matching seams, cutting off border corners, selecting a quilting pattern that is appropriate, marking a quilt and machine quilting. I seem to do better with hand quilting. However, I still consider myself a newbie. I joined a quilt guild and have attended several classes and learning more all the time. I have found the comraderie of the guild meetings and people I meet very encouraging and have several projects in the mill. I am attempting to do my first twin size quilt and have learned several ways to do it easier and faster. I guess it is just a matter of mind set. No matter, I still consider myself an addicted quilter and loving it. Keep it going.

You did great! Your binding is very well done and I think thats one of the hardest things to master. Bravo, now you are hooked!
My first quilt was so ripply and uneven I couldn't quilt it, but I hand knotted it and still have it. Your first quilt is special.

I learn each time I make a quilt or do a quilting project. Everything we do gives it "character" . Quilting is so good for the soul, no matter what the result.... we are always harder on ourselves than others..... Keep Quilting.... Quilter 1234

That is a very sweet quilt! I have found that babies don't complain much about the schcrew ups I have made. And their mom's don't seem to ever notice them either!
You did a great job, Congratulations on your hard work.
