If you remember, these hexagons were given to me by my boss. She and her mom cut them out in the 1970's. This was supposed to be her one year aniversary gift, but Mom never made it. Anyway, I was asked to put it together for a Mother's Day gift without being given a pattern. My first few tries were a disaster. This is the 2nd pattern.

It still needs borders, but at least I'm finished with the hexagons. I have such respect for those of you who piece with hexagons. This was really difficult for me.

So... borders... I was thinking brown and then red???

WOW! You've got them together already?? WONDERFUL JOB! I started a hexigon project a year or two ago and have left them sitting so long I wonder if I'll remember how to do it.

Wonderful job for such headache handed off by your boss. That's some pressure and expectation. You really pulled all those stray pieces together.

I feel that there is enough red in it but if you use red make it the 1st border and a brown border last... and the red border should be narrow i.e. 1 inch....

That turned out wonderful. I love the ideas for the borders. Go for it.

Maybe instead of using red, how about a yellow that would be close to the yellow in the hexes. But make it narrow, 1 inch, then follow it with a brown border. It will be beautiful.
