My 12-year old DS has severe autism, and I know how much these milestones mean! Good job Isabelle for overcoming her sensory issues to make the pillow, and good job Mom for your love and patience!

BRAVO!!!!!!!!! It is not easy to have a child with autism to get over fears. I also have a 17 year old son with autism and a great nephew who is only 4 and has just been dignosed with autism. CONGRATS

That is sooo great!!! My 17 year old daughter has a developmental disability, she has never shown much interest in sewing. When she was in middle school she took a Living Skills class and had to make a pillow and a pincushion. She missed a few days and had to complete the pillow at home, I helped her with the foot pedal and she used my Bernina. I was very proud of her for trying something new and scary, so I can imagine how very proud you are of your little girl. Congatulations on the milestone!!

Thank you for the wonderful comments. After she was done sewing I had to walk out of the room so she wouldn't see my tears and think something was wrong.
