What a fabulous treasure you both have! And that was a wonderful idea to put a label on it. Does yours have a label?

What a beautiful quilt your mother made. Thanks for sharing it with us on such a fitting day.

I love the embroidery on this--must have taken HOURS. It's always wonderful when the receivers of our quilts understand and appreciate all the time and love we put into them!

I am in awe! I could not help but have wonderful dreams, snuggled under a quilt made with that much love! This is an heirloom :D :D :D

That is some beautiful work. It's a very beautiful quilt and your sister is so lucky to have it. Didn't you get one? :(

You mentioned that you were going to launder the quilt as you had a larger machine. I would get directions on how to launder it before putting it in a regular washing machine. I know with antique quilts it is recommended that you lay a sheet in the bathtub, use a very mild soap (no detergents) then lay the quilt on top of the sheet. Let it soak and then after it is washed and rinsed, lift it with with the aid of the sheet. Do not hang it on a line to dry.

thanks sewbee, you are right about the treatment of antique quilts. but this one is only about 15 yrs old. i put it in my machine with just a dab of woolite and let the tub fill. i just mushed it with my hands, i didn't let it agitate. then spun and rinsed and dried. it came out perfect.
