mom has been gone for 5 years now. she made this quilt for my sister several years before she died. she did the embroidery by hand. that was her favorite needlecraft.
my sister asked me the best way to launder it so i volunteered to do it cause she just has a small machine. while i had it in my "custody" i decided to take pics to share with you all. i also made a small label since mom hadn't written any info. on the quilt at all. incredibly, neither my sister nor i could remember the yr mom made it. it just really brought home to me how important it is to document my quilts right away. how quickly we forget the details.

How beautiful!!!! I do hand embroidery on some of my baby quilts. I didn't even think to make a lable for them. Each quilt has a story and it is sad when that story is lost.
Your Mom did a beautiful job!! You're sister is lucky to have it.

thanks all, for the compliments on mom's quilt. i'm sure she is reading over my shoulder.
well, i already gave it back to my sis, but i have one too. we each have one of mom's and one of our grandma's.
will post those pics another time.
