and even more....

I made the pinwheel quilt out of fabric from my MIL's mother's stash. She passed away last September (a year ago tomorrow actually) and I mailed it to my MIL before the 4th of July. That was her mom's birthday and I knew that day would be hard and her mom loved Red White and Blue things... so I thought it was a perfect wall hanging quilt to get MIL through. She loved it so much especially because it was all her mom's fabrics!

aaand even more.

I love this picnic quilt. I made it for my mom over Memorial Day weekend. We sat in the sewing room all weekend and just chatted and laughed while I sewed this together and she pressed all the seams.

My mom used to read that book to us "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch and so I secretly quilted:
"I'll Love You Forever
I'll Like You For Always
As Long As I'm Living,
My Mommy You'll Be"

signed my quilt and wrote a description

i had a heck of a time figuring out the angles for this!

if you can believe it... there's more. I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed by how many I have completed in a year.

And now up to my latest quilt... the 1940's reproduction fabric quilt. I meant for this to be a modified coin quilt of sorts.... I really like how it turned out. I hope she likes it :)

baby quilt I made for DH's cousin's baby.

Experiment with little things like placemats! You'll gain confidence. Do you have a darning foot?

MollieSue 09-09-2009 05:13 AM

I have say, these are beautiful, and help to inspire confidence in myself. I know one was hand quilted...were the rest machine quilted? Were they done on a long arm, or your regular machine?

GREAT JOB!!!!

The Christmas one was Tumbler Blocks. I love that one... I can't wait for November so I can put out my Christmas things!

JoanneS 09-09-2009 01:17 PM

Great quilts Allison! It looks like you put a Wisconsin winter to good use! I hope you keep with it - but also hope that you find some quilting friends to play with, so those winters are even more fun! Was your Mom surprised to see what you had been quilting for her right before her eyes without her knowing it?

emmy 09-09-2009 01:19 PM

Wow! You have certainly accomplished a lot in a short period of time. What a nice variety of patterns and colors in your quilts.

wow, I guess when you make up your mind to do something....
is this a middle age/empty nest-coping thing? are you an old lady, lol?
how do you find the time, and the motivation? I'm just all awe and questions, hee hee hee. great quilts! :D

dunster 09-09-2009 02:53 PM

Wow, great quilts! I popped out of my chair when I saw the first one. What a wonderful, bright set of colors, and so beautifully put together.

I didn't realize you could use batiks in a rag quilt. Do they "rag" okay? I thought the weave would be too tight.

bearpaw 09-09-2009 03:46 PM

Great job on all of them!! A year and a half, huh??? Do you sleep????

Lisanne 09-09-2009 03:56 PM

Wow, I just love your use of color! That first quilt is a wonderful debut! And that one you sold on Etsy looks so professional.

Teacup 09-09-2009 04:00 PM

Nope I'm not an old lady at all... I'm a youngin' and it's not middle age empty nest it's young age empty nest. DH and I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 years now and I just needed something to do with my hands since everything else is out of my control.
