and even more....
I made the pinwheel quilt out of fabric from my MIL's mother's stash. She passed away last September (a year ago tomorrow actually) and I mailed it to my MIL before the 4th of July. That was her mom's birthday and I knew that day would be hard and her mom loved Red White and Blue things... so I thought it was a perfect wall hanging quilt to get MIL through. She loved it so much especially because it was all her mom's fabrics! close up of quilting on red white and blue pinwheel quilt. placemat I made... the other is in cool colors. I did put a binding on it after this. Moda pattern from their bakeshop. aaand even more.
I love this picnic quilt. I made it for my mom over Memorial Day weekend. We sat in the sewing room all weekend and just chatted and laughed while I sewed this together and she pressed all the seams. My mom used to read that book to us "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch and so I secretly quilted: "I'll Love You Forever I'll Like You For Always As Long As I'm Living, My Mommy You'll Be" picnic quilt signed my quilt and wrote a description i had a heck of a time figuring out the angles for this! if you can believe it... there's more. I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed by how many I have completed in a year.
And now up to my latest quilt... the 1940's reproduction fabric quilt. I meant for this to be a modified coin quilt of sorts.... I really like how it turned out. I hope she likes it :) baby quilt I made for DH's cousin's baby. 1940's reproduction fabric by Moda... a wedding present for a girlfriend. Great quilts Allison! It looks like you put a Wisconsin winter to good use! I hope you keep with it - but also hope that you find some quilting friends to play with, so those winters are even more fun! Was your Mom surprised to see what you had been quilting for her right before her eyes without her knowing it?
|
Wow! You have certainly accomplished a lot in a short period of time. What a nice variety of patterns and colors in your quilts.

you are about your quilting business, now aren't you??? lol! :D
wow, I guess when you make up your mind to do something.... is this a middle age/empty nest-coping thing? are you an old lady, lol? how do you find the time, and the motivation? I'm just all awe and questions, hee hee hee. great quilts! :D |
Wow, great quilts! I popped out of my chair when I saw the first one. What a wonderful, bright set of colors, and so beautifully put together.
I didn't realize you could use batiks in a rag quilt. Do they "rag" okay? I thought the weave would be too tight. |
Great job on all of them!! A year and a half, huh??? Do you sleep????
|
Wow, I just love your use of color! That first quilt is a wonderful debut! And that one you sold on Etsy looks so professional.
|
