Scrap Country
180cm x 210cm Mikey's Nine Patch from Traditional Block Quilts published by Craft World Books Machine pieced and hand quilted Made entirely from scraps and off cuts and recycled clothing bought at garage sales and op shops. It's mostly poly/cotton with some 100% cotton eg. the three shirts, plain pink, blue striped and pink striped. The dark blue came from a recycled dress with a full skirt. I know it's not perfect and I have some joins in funny places and I now know about not cutting outside triangles on a bias, plus many other things, but I sure did enjoy this project and it has got me hooked on quilt making!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, what a response! I never expected that! Thankyou very much to everyone! Yes Chasing Hawk, it is my very first attempt at machine pieced and hand qulited, but I must confess that I have been a sewer all my life, making clothes and soft furnishings. I make rag rugs as well and this led me on to making quilts now that I am semi retired i have more time for such things. About ten years ago I went to a qulting course and we made some sample blocks by the hand method unfortunately they are still just that.....sample blocks, I am hoping with the heip of my quilting buddy I might get to make them up into a quilt who knows!!! Fingers crossed!!
