But I did work hard on weaving this chair bottom with mens neck ties. Am working on 2 more.

nativetexan 10-18-2010 06:52 PM

oh great chair! how did you attach them?

wolfkitty 10-18-2010 06:52 PM

Nice work! I think I have a rocking chair very much like that (black also), but not in as good shape. That makes a really nice seat!

MissM 10-18-2010 06:52 PM

This is really neat....does it seem to have a lot of strength for sitting?

Ramona Byrd 10-18-2010 06:53 PM

DARN!! And here I got rid of masses of my late DH's ties in a yard sale last summer.

You did a marvelous job on this, it's something that I'd never have thought of. And they are so strong this will last as long as
the wood part holds up.

Congratulations on keeping those lovely ties from just taking up space in the closet. They are far too nice to hide them away and now you can show them off.

I saw one of these at the Gwinnett Sewing and Quilt Show over the weekend. I thought it was one of the cutest things I've seen in a long time. It's so unique.

that is just beautiful!! Makes me wish I had all the ties my hubby threw away over the years. Look forward to seeing how you did that, understand the weaving part, but how you cut and etc. will be very interesting.

Kitsapquilter 10-19-2010 05:08 AM

How cool is that? I saw on Craigslist someone had a whole big box of ties for sale. I wondered what I would do with them and thought no, I don't need one more thing sitting around my house. Never would have thought to use them like you have!

Very cute! But don't they stretch since ties are made on the bias and so is the stabilizer in them? I used to make ties for my husband once upon a time.
