One Mistake Leads to Another Update

1 Attachment(s)
This may be the wrong forum for this, but I wanted to say that my dear husband, for whom I struggled to finish this penguin quilt, passed away at the end of April. I had the quilt in hospice house (he was there only a week). He didn't want to use it, afraid he would mess it up, so I hung it over the doors of the wardrobe so he could see it. I'm so glad I had finished it before we knew he was seriously ill. As soon as I finish the sleeve, it will hang in our (my) bedroom.

BTW: This is the last picture I have of my DH.

ditto to the above

I am so glad that you were able to finish it 'in time' - You have a great layout of the quilt - it is very visually appealing.

The quilt is lovely and your hubby looked so happy with it. I'm glad he could enjoy it during his brief stay at hospice.

I'm sorry for your loss - I know it is difficult (I was a widow also). The memories, pictures and "things" like this quilt will be of great comfort to you.

God Bless and I'll add a prayer for you tonight.

You did a fantastic job on the quilt and from the smile on your husband's face you can tell he thought so too. I would not only hang the quilt in your bedroom but the picture also. So glad he got the pleasure of receiving this finished project before he departed. My prayers are lifted up for you at this time and I hope this picture and quilt bring you peace and rest at nite hanging in the room with you. Hugs to you.

So sorry for your loss. And yes, I'm also glad you finished it so he could look at it. What a neat thing that you have such a happy face picture for you to remember him by, though. Congratulations!

Thank you for sharing your pain with us. It is a part of the "healing" process, which is so understated. Just know that when times get tough, you're surrounded by love here.

M.I.Late 05-14-2012 03:04 PM

Oh! I didn't expect this news. I am so sorry to hear that he has moved on. I will lift your family up in my prayers. He certainly looks like a very proud husband in that picture. What a treasure you have now. It was made to comfort him, but before you hang it up on the wall - use it to get comfort from him now. (at least for a while). I'm so glad you were able to finish it for both of you. The real gift here was the "very proud husband" picture. (Thank him for that).
Gods blessings as you begin this new journey. Always know you can come here to weep, complain, get love and support or just be with friends. Please accept hugs, hugs and hugs from all of us here on the board.

This is a great pic of your husband, to be the last one, he looks very thrilled with a quilt(your work).Every quilter should be so blessed as to have a great pic of her hubby with a quilt she made him.
