No offense to Carol Doack but I hate paper piecing. Don't ask me why I decided to do these. I had to make 24 blocks with 17 pieces in each block. I had to get them done becasue my DD wants the black and white Think Outside the Box quilt (Toadusa), and then I want to make a bunch of Celtic Illusions quilts by Karen Combs.

At least they are finished! Hooray!

Sue Fish 06-02-2010 04:19 AM

they were well worth the effort...love them!!

reneebobby 06-02-2010 04:21 AM

Thank you! I noticed you are on the CT shoreline - I am a Northford resident myself!

They came out very good.

I haven't tried paper piecing yet. But will I hope. Want to be able to try everything then decide what I like best.

You should be very proud of them!

CAROLJ 06-02-2010 04:35 AM

Those are lovely.

sueisallaboutquilts 06-02-2010 04:48 AM

They are beautiful!! Paper piecing seems to be one of those methods you either love or hate, from what I've heard. I love it b/c of the precision you can get and just think it's fun.
But I know lots of people who also hate it :D

GrammaNancy 06-02-2010 05:11 AM

They are beautiful, I can see how much work they must have been. Not sure I would let people eat on them.;) I like paper pieced...if it only has 5 or 6 pieces.

DJ 06-02-2010 05:12 AM

These are beautiful!

I don't mind paper piecing, and this pattern would be lovely for a friend of mine. Where did you find it?

The pattern came from the book 'Easy Machine Paper Piecing' by Carol Doak.

BTW - I sprayed the placemats with a stain repellant so that they would stay nice at least for a little while.

Bevanger 06-02-2010 10:37 AM

Wow! Those are pretty

Jim's Gem 06-02-2010 11:24 AM

rootyr 06-02-2010 01:29 PM

Lovely!

wvdek 06-02-2010 01:43 PM

I think they came out lovely.

My DS lives in West Hartford and works in Bristol.

ann clare 06-02-2010 02:12 PM

Beautiful placemats

cwessel47 06-02-2010 02:25 PM

Very nice. We must have the same book 'cause I used that pattern in a vest I made. I like the precision but it is a lot of work.

Pineapple Princess 06-02-2010 04:11 PM

Nice work!

buttonhead 06-03-2010 11:39 AM

As a matter of fact, I am working now on PP of an Air Force Star block(s). Actually it was the only pattern I could find of that particular block. My thought is that it seems to waste so much fabric. However, the seams sure are straight. Love the Tulips, by the way.

beachlady 06-04-2010 04:20 AM

For not liking PP, those are beautiful. I still have not tried PP - need to take a class.

CarrieAnne 06-04-2010 04:39 AM

They sure turned out nice!

CarrieAnne 06-04-2010 04:39 AM

Thank you!
Carol Doaks book is also a very good tutorial - thats how I learned. It really isn't difficult - I just don't like the stop and start with the little bits of material!

I like the rotary cut and piece method which could explain why I don't like to paper piece.

amma 06-04-2010 07:08 AM

Wow!!! They look gorgeous :D:D:D

charcrfts 06-04-2010 07:51 AM

Beautiful! They would be perfect on my table :) Guess I'll have to get this book!

eimay 06-04-2010 05:22 PM

They are great. I like paper-piecing when I want to escape..it's kind of like doing a jig-saw puzzle.

RedGarnet222 06-04-2010 05:25 PM

Nice!!

littlehud 06-04-2010 06:21 PM

tuesy 06-04-2010 06:53 PM
