I probably made a pinwheel for the sampler we made in the intro to quilting class I took last summer, but ... this is the first one since then. I know these fabrics are a bit busy, but am okay with that. BUT ... would you put sashing around each 4-block square? The darker blue perhaps? The border is busy, too. I have the squares cut and have this one pinwheel put together so suggest away!

I like it. This is a cheery cherry quilt. I think when it is done, it will be just fine. You could do your binding in a solid color of one of the main colors. I love the fabric since I love cherries!

I think that border would look great if you first put a narrow strip border of a solid color (maybe red?) to separate the pinwheels from the large border. Just an opinion.

I love it...I wouldn't sash each block, but I would consider putting a thin solid red or blue border between the blocks and the paisley print, then binding in the same solid. Very sweet fabric.

I really like a frame between the quilt center and the border so definately will do that - just was afraid the blocks would be too busy, too, but ... maybe not! I just won't put it all together until I get something solid to check it out. Hoping I can find the darker blue. Don't have anything in my stashlette that's isn't too navy.

Thanks for the advice!

I would a brite red or yellow in there..just a finished 1" even...will help calm the eye and show your blocks!

oh yea, theres a lot going on in those fabrics! They are pretty, but yea can see the "busy" I would do like already suggested and put a thin solid between the blocks and that border. Just to keep them for all runnin together.

But i have a hard time seeing patterns in a busy quilts. It all just ends up looking like a blur to me.

I agree! Would set all the prints apart!

I was advised some time back that a thin black border is a great way to frame a quilt. If you use red or blue they may just blend into the block. A fine black line would separate the blocks from the border and give the eye somewhere to rest. You said yourself that your fabrics are quite busy.
Ultimately though it is your quilt to do with what you will.
