When she found she was going blind she studied Braille. God Bless her niece! She labeled the quilt in Braille with French Knots so it could be read. She had a friend help her with the French Knots who also knows Braille. Alma's niece also stitched in German the names of all those who helped work on the quilt. She hand embroidered along the quilt lines echoing the information. It's almost invisible because the thread is only about 2 shades lighter than the material. I thought that was very clever. So if you run across a quilt anytime that feels really nubby, it just might be labeled in Braille!
