its looking fantastic and i cant wait to see the finished piece! It was good to see what the fabric looked like before you cut it up as i have been contemplating using this technique but was never sure what fabric would work..our big chain store is having a sale so might see if there is some fabric that might be suitable..how much should i buy?

Well, you need at least 6 repeats in your fabric (or 8 if you plan to make your kaleidoscopes octogons) but if you want to make it bed sized you need a ton of fabric. I think I read in my book that you need something like 7 meters or close to that. Maybe someone who has made a big one can properly answer that question.

It's gorgeous so far. Maybe you can find a batik or other fabrics to 'fill in' and make it bigger, IF you want it bigger!
