I am making this quilt for my in-laws 50th. It will be king size when completed. Their wedding colors where purple and silver. I am debating on which way to go with it. If I should do all the same in the center or make squares and sash around them. What do you think? Your opinion is much appreciated.

I think saching will give each block a statement But if you chose not to use saching it will all blend into one solid top. Both will be Beautiful.

I like the idea of all the fabrics blending in with each other - like the 50 years of their marriage.

Looks like a tremendoud amount of work to me - a king size is very large.

I am of the other way of thinking on this one. I like the sashing as it sets the blocks apart more. Either way though it will be a beautiful quilt.

sashing to seperate, does not have to be very wide

sisters must think alike, I just talked to dbries and I told her a very narrow sashing would be enough to just set the blocks apart.

Maybe a deep, deep purple or black would be dramatic Remember the scrappy one dbeck made for drfaas? http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-15974-1.htm see how the blocks are set apart with the sashing
