Really beautiful, Lovetoquilt!!!! :D :D |
That is really neat! I've always loved the designs in neck ties. You made them into a gorgeous quilt.
Lovetoquilt-I just love, love, love your quilt!! The border sets it off beautifully. How many different ties did you use? Where did you get them all?
I got them from the lady in my church. They belonged to her husband I used 171 ties.
ME LIKEY ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an absolutely gorgeous quilt!!
Did you have requirements as to the fabric content? I really love this quilt.
its just beautiful.
i love what you did with the border |
Beautiful anyway you can post the pattern? The color choices are just so eye catching. Did you use all the ties she gave you?
I too love it. The border is especially nice.
I love scrappy quilts, and repurposed items. |

Is it heavy? |

Strikimg! Nice job.
That has to be the nicest Tie Quilt I have seen to date!!!!
The white background really sets off all of the colors in the ties! |
I have never seen or even heard of a tie quilt! That is gorgeous!
beautiful! I have some but not that many!
I usually just use 100% cotton for my quilts but the ties are made of all kinds of fabrics.
That's amazing! I love the way you put the border together, too. Just a stunning quilt!
The pattern is from a book by Fons and Porter. "Quick Quilts from the Heart." The pattern itself is called fancy fans. The border on theirs had a scalloped border but I did the braided border so I could use more of the fabric from the ties. Yes I used parts of all the ties. I needed 96 different ties to have a tie on each blade of the fan. I only had 171 ties so I had to used 25 of the ties twice.
Yes it is really heavy. That is because of all of the thick knit ties. And yes she will get the quilt this morning in Church after a memorial is done for her Husband.
thats the first time i saw a tie quilt. i really like it. AWESOME JOB!!!!!! :D

What beautiful fans. You did a wonderful job on this.
that is simply awesome! So cool! I can't stop looking at it!
That is such a great idea. You did a wonderful job on that. I can just see her looking at a particular tie and remembering where it came from, how he got it, which were his favorites etc. Lots of good memories of special times.
I wonder how many of us are going to head out to yard sales and thrift shops looking for ties? I bet I gave away 40 ties when my hubby died. :D |
