This has been my project for today. Will quilt it tomorrow (machine). This was a whole lot quicker and easier than the paper pieced, hand stitched blocks I made a few years ago. Spent 3 years working on them and finally gave up and just made a lap quilt out of what I'd done.
This is one I did by hand stitching fabric around diamond cut outs,, which you popped out after you got the pieces sewed into a pattern. I wasn't consistent with my color placement. Live and learn! Bright --might need sun glasses!! |
These are gorgeous!!! I love tumbling blocks, but never felt brave enough to attempt one. You did an awesome job! :)

I actually like the fact that you weren't consistant with your fabric placement on the first one. I think it makes the whole quilt look a little mysterious and quite interesting moreland!
You're right...that second one is bright!!!...but I love them both. If you don't like your first one, I'd be more than willing to give it a great home. ;) ;) Good job on both of them. |
If you don't like it, I'll take it. It looks good to me. I think you did a very nice job on a difficult project. :D

I like the different illusion you got with the nontraditional placement of the pieces just as well as I like the traditionally placed ones! Two different looks, 2 wonderful quilts! :D :D :D
|
The first one has the illusion of opaque blocks, gradually merging into solid and then beginning to fade out again. I agreee with the misterious interpretation and would add mystical to the description. The second one is playful and reminds me of a court jester.

Tumbling blocks is one of my favorites... I think you did a beautiful job and I love the colors..

Your new one is nice, too, but that first one is REALLY interesting. It's so multi-dimensional!! :D
|
Give us a tut on it.
