There is a quilt my family has that is supposedly 210 years old. It would've been made in penslyvania, but depending on the age, perhaps germany. I am posting pictures below. I would like to find out either where to go to get an appriasial and dating, or be able to find out how old it is. And what the pattern is. It looks like it was quilted by several different quilts, some stitchs are so tiny you can barely see them, and others are medium sized.
Thank you. Emily

I have no clue to your questions, but this quilt is gorgeous!! it's in great shape for being so old. Hope I look that good when I'm 210

What a treasure! I'm sure someone here has an answer for you. I've never had the opportunity to need someone like that.

If you can get to the quilt show in Portland the weekend of March 27, Gerald Roy will be giving 30 minute private appraisals on Friday. The cost is $50 (a real deal) and you get a written appraisal. He lives here in NH and has done several quilts for me. He really knows what he is doing. Here's more info http://www.northwestquilters.org/sho...2009.php#Roy09

If you can't get to that show, here is a list of AQS certified appraisers, listed by states they cover http://www.quilt.com/DebbieRoberts/applist.htm

It definitely has a Penn.Dutch (German) look to it. I painted my kitchen in our old house (cabinets) with Penn.Dutch flowers all over the doors. Took me 2 years to do it :P It was my empty nest project at the time. Maybe why we can't sell the darn house.
If you can find some one to apprise it , thats what I'd do. It's gorgeous, I'd also look into some way to preserve it.
Guard it well my dear I may be on the hunt!

What a beautiful treasure you have. It is in such good condition for being old, let alone 210 years old! Good luck on getting the appraisal. Let us know when you find out.
