When a Dog Chewed a Hole in a Quilt...

2 Attachment(s)
Last year, I made a quilt for someone to give to their grand-daughter for her wedding.

A few weeks ago, I received an email.... their dog chewed a hole in it, can you fix it? "Well, I have to see the hole. Then I may or may not have any more of some of the fabrics... It may need to be an 'honest patch'."

Fortunately, the hole was in the outer border of the quilt, and I still have that fabric (I loved it, and bought extra).
Also, the hole is only in the quilt top and not overly big.
There was a hole in the batting big enough for my finger to fit through.

So... I stitched the hole in the batting shut.
Stabilized some of the ragged edges of the hole.
Then I cut a "patch" of matching fabric and appliqued it over the hole.

You did a great job... my girlfriend had a cat who did the same thing! (the cat has since died of old age no she did not kill it )
Happy Quilting!

My dog Just ate the corner off the first quilt I made. I wasn't a happy camper..
Glad you could fix it for them.

Looks perfect, not even any fading to contend with, I'm sure it's owner will be thrilled.

Very nice repair. When I began quilting with a longarm, many many "dog quilts" were the end result of practicing techniques. When they have their own, they leave mine alone :)
