I found this today at one of those perpetual yard sale places...the operator buys storage units. He thought it was just some fabric so it cost $2!
This quilt top is approximately 67 x 80 inches and is both hand and machine pieced. Old fabric. It is so well done. The border fabric is sort of brittle and in places there is damage. How would you finish it? Use the original border, but make it narrow so that damage is removed? Or remove the original border and replace? I think the best thing to do is send it to me:):):). I think I would remove the outside border and replace with a reproduction fabric.

You probably don't want to hear this but the proper thing to do to restore the damaged areas is to applique a new border over the old. Don't remove the old one unless it's badly soiled by something you can't identify. If you can find a similar vintage fabric to make the repair the quilt will retain it's monetary value as a vintage/antique quilt.

Great find!! Did you find it here in Pahrump?
