    Great log cabin quilt, and hubby sounds like a smart cookie...hide and decorate at the same time .

    I pre wash most of the time as well, have even hand pre washed charm squares (I know, don't ask...lol) Definitely pre wash flannel, and reds...

    Beautiful quilt!!! Love the look of the log cabin, but DH would rip it apart since he lays on top of it (he just about ruined a bed spread my grandmother made me). Not surprised about the shrinkage -- I hate to wash and iron but have had too many blocks where one or two pieces shrank and the others did not. Now I wash before I piece (sigh).

    beautiful quilt. I never wash fabric or batting and have never had a problem. I may have to rethink this habit.
