Promised my grandson a space-pilot quilt in 2009 for his next birthday (2010), showed him the "cockpit" panel. Bought star-theme fabrics and solar-system panel in 2010. Had it done except for binding, only to discover he had moved up to a double bed.

So, off to sewing more "borders". Back was pieced from same star fabrics, then sent out for "stars" quilting. Finished binding at 3AM New Years morning (so this is also my first quilt for 2011).

He got it on New Years Day, slept under it that night.

Great job, lucky he didn't out grow the idea. Looks like he loves it.

The whole thing from first fabric to final gift was only a little over a year. Plus, whenever we got together (he lives out of state), I would always show him the latest progress.
