Default Signature Quilt from the Civil War era

Thursday & Friday I spent in Washington DC, with my son on the Fifth grade field trip. One of the agenda items was Ford's Theater. In the museum, there is a signature quilt of the era, which was used as a fundraiser.

If this works, the pictures are:

The quilt as signed by famous people of the era.
The key to all the signatures
Lincoln's signature
Attorney General Bate's signature (I think - I wanted to get the detail of the quilt's edge).

At one point, I left Gus and his friend who were sitting waiting to go on to the next part of the tour, to go back to the quilt. Gus's response - "Of course."

Cheers, K

Wow! I never knew that quilt existed. Is it on display permanently at the Ford Theatre?

This is remarkable. Thanks for posting. I am trying to "post quick reply" and it keeps giving me "Do you want to leave this page..." no, I don't. Don't know what is happening, but it's getting a little tiresome as it kicked my other post off...or it wouldn't show up and now it is showing up. aghhhhhhhhh

Thank you for posting this. I tried to get in to see it a couple of weeks ago when I was there but the theatre and museum were closed due to showing a matinee. So now I get to see it through you!

It certainly looked like a permanent display to me. I didn't know it existed until I wandered past the wall it is on.

The museum is really neat, it was my first time visiting it and was very pleasantly surprised.

Cheers, K

That is an outstanding quilt and the story behind it. Thanks for the history lesson. I would love to see it in person.
