Default Teal and feathers

I just finished quilting this quilt and when I got to the end of it, I had measured the backing wrong. It was 1/2 inch too short!! I am so upset with myself. I thought I had allowed extra. So, The outer boarder will have to be cut down a little bit to allow for my goof!! I'll sure be glad when I get all my ducks in a row and learn what I'm doing. All in all, it turned out pretty good, I think. Even if I have to whack the border a little bit.

You can always add a strip on the backing to make it large enough instead of trimming the top. Looks great though!

Beautiful quilt and quilting!! Love the colors! Had that happen to me, I added a piece to the backing while on the frame by hand stitching and was able to finish quilting. It was a friends quilt who cut the backing only 2" extra on all sides and I thought I could get away with quilting it...not!! End result worked out well.

Don't you hate it when that happens? Could the fabric have been mounted on the frame in the wrong direction? (I've done that.) Anyway, it's a gorgeous quilt, wonderful ocean colors.

It sure is pretty! I think I would cut extra wide binding and make the fold over to the back 1 inch instead of matching the front. Does the backing match the front? If you can do the binding in the same colour as the backing, you won't even notice the extra wide back binding. Ideally your binding should be the same size back and front but my mine is often a little wider in the back anyways.

Looks great, sorry about the short. I start by draping my backing over the top bar of the machine and it hang down both sides. Then I drape the top over the backing, fast, easy and it will give you a reading on all 4 sides.
