Your quilt is amazing! You did such a good job on it. I also wish I had saved my DH old ties.

I love your tie quilt and the border is just icing on the cake!! I have collected a box full of ties. I have just put off getting to them because I didn't know a really pretty pattern for the ties......this is IT!! I found them at yard sales and at a place in Texas where you could buy things by the pound. I racked up on that one. Anyway....stunning quilt, my favorite is always scrappy quilts!! Beautiful!

Did you follow info from a book/ pattern - or just made it up.
My father in law died last year and I have 60-70 ties and wanted to do something
like this for memory quilt. Perfect pattern to be able to divide by color, patterns,
etc.

Any help is appreciated...

Lovetoquilt gave this info on post #22

"The pattern is from a book by Fons and Porter. "Quick Quilts from the Heart." The pattern itself is called fancy fans. The border on theirs had a scalloped border but I did the braided border so I could use more of the fabric from the ties. Yes I used parts of all the ties. I needed 96 different ties to have a tie on each blade of the fan. I only had 171 ties so I had to used 25 of the ties twice."

She gave the wrong info on number of ties and corrected that in post #40 something.

I found a copy of the quick quilts from the heart at the library. You might try there.
